I tried counting the other day…
Since the twins were born almost six months ago, I’ve:
Been shopping by myself four times.
Seen my girlfriends as a group three times.
Attended one Wives Club event.
Had half a dozen date nights.
Been to the beach three times.
Been to the actual ocean during only one of those trips.
Hit the pool three times before it got too hot for the babies.
Made seven baby girl hair bows.
Had my hair cut once. Zero manicures or pedicures.
Missed three church services.
Read zero books & two magazines.
I’ve partaken in over two thousand diaper changes.
I’ve breastfed for a total of nearly five hundred hours.
I’ve washed somewhere around one hundred loads of cloth diapers.
It’s been absolutely worth it. No regrets. But as the leaves turn & the air cools, I can’t help but look forward with excitement. The sisters are beginning to sit up. The toddler is beginning to talk. The big boys are beginning to enjoy things like football & fashion. And besides, it’s my favorite season.
Praise the Lord and bring on the autumn.

Something about the upcoming season has me feeling refreshed/ready to take on anything… which I guess is important considering I’m due in about 7 weeks with #2 and my daughter is only 14 months. Woo boy.
You’ve had more dates in the last six months than I have had in the last 23 months (since before I got pregnant). I think you’re doing great! I loved this post. I think your list is one of accomplishments that few people can say the same of. Breastfeeding twins is amazing! I too am grateful for the coming of autumn. It’s a nice change of pace and it’s loads of fun to dress baby girls in sweaters and jeans and in lots of layers.
I think you’re doing great! For as many parents who say that your life is over after having children…you prove that life isn’t over…it’s just different. Good different. I think a date night once a month is pretty good for some and especially with 5 children.
Thanks
I am excited for Fall, but I get a new bundle of joy in late November.
I hear you on the going to the beach but rarely seeing the ocean thing!
Haha
Ah! Thank you so much for posting this. First of all, amazing job! And second of all, thanks for sharing! I only have one baby, but I have those moments where I feel like I’m a nursing machine and I definitely realize how much different my life is (especially since my other friends with babies right now are using formula and have a much greater freedom). But it really is absolutely worth every moment. I absolutely have no regrets, but it’s always nice to be reminded that you’re not the only one, and that I do in fact have it even much easier than many! You are seriously amazing!
