I’ve loved this kid for seven years now,
and been his stepmonster for just over two.
and been his stepmonster for just over two.
Such a beautiful journey it’s been!
Lucas is into:
skinny jeans
leading nightly devotions
counting money
reading about the Holocaust
getting Ames up from naps
making his bed
Star Wars Legos
running home from school
plaid shirts & striped hoodies
Mexican train dominoes
telling us he loves us every day
It doesn’t get much better.
We celebrated a few different times this week.
This weekend, we partied with family at Chris’ parents’ house.
In typical Lucas-style…sharing his lollipop with Ames:
On his actual birthday, my parents & brother came over.
Make-your-own pizza night has become a Lucas birthday tradition!
We’re all experiencing growing pains right now, as we help Lucas learn to develop his character. He is so stinkin’ smart, and it takes a lot of prodding to keep him motivated with his gifted & talented program at school. He’s also starting to flex his defiant pre-teen muscles. But he’s got a good head on his shoulders, and his heart is twice the size as the rest of him. I’m thankful to have him in my life, and I can’t wait to watch him grow into a strong & beautiful man – just like his Daddy.
