teresa…
My boys are adopted from the Democratic Republic of Congo, and came home to my husband and I last November. Baxter is 15 months and Atticus is 13 months. Yep, they’re 8 weeks apart, so I pretty much am a mama of twins. Having two one-year-old little boys requires a lot of “make it work” moments.
Over the last nine months, I have worked hard at the art of running errands by myself and have to say, I thought I had it down pretty well. But then they had a doctors appointment and my “mom taking two kids out by herself” confidence was taken down a notch, or five. I spent the majority of the time pushing Atticus in a stroller chasing Baxter, who decided he wanted to explore all the hallways. To put it lightly, it had the potential to be a very stressful.
During the early months of motherhood, I would have definitely had a meltdown in this situation, but I have learned, through trial and error, that I just have to roll with it and do my best. So that’s what I chose to do, and ended up leaving the office with two semi-happy boys (they had shots).
Going from zero kids to two is a pretty big jump, but I can’t imagine life without them and will gladly accept the challenge of a “makin’ it work” mama if it means getting to spend my days with my kiddos.

What a beautiful family! Coincidentally, those are my top two names if I ever have a boy. Baxter was my great grandfather’s name, and To Kill a Mockingbird is one of my favorite books.
I’m assuming I’m the Melaine who won the headbands. I hope so- my heart literally skipped a beat when I won that a Melaine had won! This is my first blog giveaway win. :)
I don’t know if I could handle getting shots for two one-year-olds at the same time. As it is I try to schedule things like that separately for my 1 year old and 10 year old, and that is still a challenge!
