The front porch is our only covered outdoor area (at the moment), so we often find ourselves cramming in for an afternoon snack and a front row view of the big boys’ street games. It’s one of the simplest and most pleasant ways to pass hot days. I’m a few kids in and I still haven’t figured out what to do with everyone right after nap time.
Now that Isaiah Jane has found her sea legs, she’s much more agreeable (like her sister) about playing independently in different environments. Ames is into sports and destruction these days, so the front yard is a great spot for him to swing baseball bats and drumsticks and golf clubs.
On this particular afternoon, the older boys had just finished up football camp and headed off to their mom’s for the night. We braved the heat alone and were rewarded with a treat – the ice cream truck! Ames had never had the pleasure, so we treated him. He picked the most unappealing item on the menu, but the ice cream man was nice and had a dog for a sidekick, so it all worked out.

Love that your blog focuses on the blessing of being in the “now”.
Thanks, you!
If I had your front porch, I don’t know if I’d ever leave it!
